Marvel Rivals Season 4:officially launches on September 12, 2025, introducing Angela as a new Vanguard hero. This highly anticipated update also marks the game’s debut on PS4, allowing a wider player base to join the action. Season 4 brings exciting new modes, skins for heroes like Moon Knight, Loki, and Phoenix, and unique rewards for competitive players. The update downtime is expected to last 2-3 hours across global regions as the new content rolls out.
Introducing Angela: The New Vanguard Hero

Angela brings a fresh dynamic to Marvel Rivals with her ability to fly and attack from above using a spear. Her combat style involves pushing enemies backward with spear strikes and switching to dual axes for close-range brawling. Angela’s Ultimate ability creates a golden ring that pulls in enemies, raising the damage they take while inside it. Players can also trigger a shield to block incoming damage, making her versatile in both ranged and melee combat.
New Maps and Game Modes
Season 4 features a new Convergence mode map called K’un-Lun: Heart of Heaven, releasing on September 25. This map merges elements of Capture Point and Payload, adding depth to strategic gameplay. Additionally, Arcade Mode gets a significant update with popular modes like Clone Rumble and Giant-Size Brain Blast becoming permanent favorites. New modes such as Free Fight, which permits duplicate heroes, and Conquest (Annihilation), where players accumulate points through knockouts, enhance game variety.
Hero Balancing and Competitive Changes
The update includes crucial hero balancing to maintain fairness. Buffs are applied to heroes including Peni Parker, Thor, Blade, Magick, Moon Knight, Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier, Invisible Woman, Jeff the Land Shark, Mantis, and Ultron. Meanwhile, heroes like Captain America, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, Black Panther, Psylocke, Squirrel Girl, Loki, and Luna Snow receive nerfs to adjust the competitive balance.
Competitive mode experiences a rank reset with ranks demoted by seven divisions to offer a fresh start. For example, players ending at Diamond I in Season 3.5 will begin at Gold II in Season 4. New ranked rewards include Angela’s Siriana’s Silver costume for those who reach Gold, plus fresh nameplate frames and Crests of Honor for higher tiers like Diamond, Platinum, and Grandmaster.
Quality of Life Improvements
Season 4 enhances player experience with several quality-of-life features: squad voice chat for better team communication, new entrance animations in Team Lobby to personalize player introductions, and a costume rotation feature providing easier access to favorite outfits. A Favorites Bar is also added, letting players quickly select their most-used heroes during hero pick.
What to Expect Going Forward
With the new Battle Pass featuring heroic costumes themed around the Fruit of Immortality and ongoing special events, Season 4 continues to focus on evolving content. The storyline involves mystical realms and confrontations with Doctor Doom, enriching the game’s narrative depth. Early access impressions highlight Angela’s impactful gameplay and the overall polish of the update.
